Our unique Diabetes Education Program at Bothwell Regional Health Center provides individuals with diabetes the skills and knowledge needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle and reduce the risk of long-term complications. The Bothwell Regional Health Center Diabetes Self Education Program has been Recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education. *
Topics covered in our comprehensive program include medication, nutrition, physical activity, monitoring and complications. Certified Diabetes Educators provide these specialized services at Bothwell Regional Health Center. Medicare and most insurance plans cover the services with your physician’s referral.
Diabetes Support Group
In addition, we also offer a Diabetes Support Group. It is a community service open to all people with diabetes and their family members at no cost. Meeting with others who are in the same situation offers the opportunity to share feelings and gain valuable tips. Studies show that attending a diabetes support group can help reduce stress and have a positive effect on the health of those with diabetes. The diabetes educators at Bothwell Regional Health Center lead the support group by supplying a special level of expertise. There are guest speakers, often healthcare professionals, who offer their unique perspective on diabetes issues.
Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Bothwell Regional Health Center in the third floor classroom.
(Dates and times are subject to change.)
