Lub Dub Run

More than 300 people got their hearts pumping and supported a good cause by running or walking in the Lub Dub held Saturday, April 28, at the hospital. This year’s fifth annual event set attendance records. The Lub Dub, named after the sound of a healthy heartbeat, is a 5K/10K run and walk hosted by the Bothwell Foundation. The event benefits the Camye Callis Gaspard Memorial Heart Fund, which helps finance improvements in cardiovascular treatment at Bothwell. The fund was established by the Callis-Gaspard families following Camye’s death from undiagnosed heart disease at age 41.

A new component to Lub Dub this year was a Corporate Challenge where employers were encouraged to have employees participate and match their entry fees or make a corporate contribution. Twelve local companies participated. Awards were presented to Bichsel Jewelry for having 100 percent employee participation, and Third National Bank for making the largest monetary contribution.
