Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing ministry that works to create decent, affordable housing. Its purposes is to build and sell the houses at a no-profit and no-interest loan to families who could not otherwise afford a home. A family is selected based on need for adequate shelter, ability to pay for a Habitat home and willingness to partner with Habitat. Habitat homes are financed through private donations and utilize volunteer labor and family sweat equity. In addition to new construction, Habitat also renovates existing buildings in many communities, particularly in urban areas. Habitat’s A Brush with Kindness and Neighborhood Revitalization help people repair and improve their homes and neighborhoods.
