Bothwell residency graduate returns to Cole Camp clinic after obstetrics fellowship

Brittany Lefevers, MD, has joined the medical team at Bothwell Cole Camp Clinic, where she is now seeing patients of all ages, including children, adults and obstetric patients.

Lefevers is a 2025 graduate of the Bothwell-University of Missouri Rural Family Medicine Residency, the first program in Missouri specifically designed to train physicians to practice in rural communities. Following residency, she completed a one-year obstetrics fellowship at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare in Florida, an experience she said made her a stronger provider.

“My fellowship gave me hands-on training in inpatient and outpatient obstetrics, with a focus on operative skills like cesarean sections,” Lefevers said. “That experience at a high-risk center was invaluable and has made me a better obstetrics provider overall.”

After completing her fellowship, Lefevers chose to return to Missouri to be closer to family and build her practice in the community she trained.

Lefevers said her patient care philosophy centers on collaboration and meeting patients where they are.

“A doctor’s visit should be seen as a discussion where the doctor and the patient work together to determine the best way to care for the patient,” she said. “I come from a very simple, humble background and understand a lot of struggles people face, so I will always work with them to meet them where they are.”

In addition to seeing patients, Lefevers will serve as attending faculty for the residency, teaching and mentoring the program’s resident physicians.

Lori Wightman, Bothwell Regional Health Center CEO, said Lefevers’ return is a reflection of what the residency was built to accomplish.

“Dr. Lefevers trained here, pursued additional specialty training and chose to come back,” Wightman said. “That is a testament to this community and to this program, and her patients are going to be well served.”
