Experienced physician to join Bothwell Regional Health Center

Michael Yuhas, MD

Michael Yuhas, MD, an internal medicine physician, will join Bothwell Regional Health Center’s medical team and provide expert care for adults including disease prevention, complex illnesses, pulmonology and lung ailments, as well as kidney illnesses in the clinic and in the hospital.

Yuhas received bachelor’s and medical degrees through a six-year program at University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He has been practicing since 1989 and has experience in providing care in outpatient clinics and in-patient hospital settings.

Yuhas said while he originally chose to become a doctor to help people, his reasoning has expanded throughout his years of experience.

“As I’ve grown professionally over the years, my “why” is to provide my patients with good, quality health care and hopefully prolong their life for many years,” he said. “Internal medicine is like putting together a puzzle. You have to listen to the patient and connect each piece of information until you see the whole picture.”

Marvin Smoot, Bothwell’s Clinic Operations vice president, said Yuhas is bringing decades of experience to the organization and is confident in the impact he will make.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Yuhas to our team,” he said. “His expertise and dedication to patient-centered care align perfectly with our mission to deliver safe and compassionate health care to our community. We look forward to the positive impact he will bring to patients and the clinic team.”

On building trust with his patients, Yuhas said he values participation and prioritizes collaboration.

“My patient-centered approach allows people to participate in the monitoring and development of their care plan,” he said. “I view them as a teammate and myself as an overseer of their care. In my 35 years of practicing medicine, I’ve learned you must listen and have a caring attitude to build trusting patient-provider relationships. These traits, along with my medical knowledge of disease processes, have allowed me to build patient confidence and trust in my field of practice.”

Yuhas will see patients at Bothwell Internal Medicine Specialists beginning Dec. 10. He joins Nurse Practitioners Leah Hermanson and Shawna Sapaugh and Nurse Specialist Rene Boland, and Dr. Gabriel Anders and Dr. Daniel Woolery at Bothwell Pulmonary Specialists. The clinics are located at 2301 S. Ingram Ave. in Sedalia. For appointments with Yuhas, call 660.827.2526 or Centralized Scheduling at 660.829.8888.
