Family medicine physician joins Bothwell Family Medicine Associates

Alexandra Cooke, DO, a board-certified family medicine physician, has joined Bothwell Family Medicine Associates and is now seeing patients of all ages.
Cooke provides full-spectrum primary care including prenatal, obstetric and pediatric services, as well as women’s health, mental health, geriatric care and chronic disease management. She received her medical degree at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Iowa and recently completed an advanced obstetrics fellowship at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, Washington, where she trained in providing comprehensive obstetric care, including operative deliveries and cesarean sections.
Cooke said she values the continuity of care in family medicine and the ability to support people at every stage of life.
“It is a privilege to care for patients at birth, throughout their childhood and into adulthood,” she said. “Experiencing milestones and struggles is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.”
A Missouri native who grew up outside Lincoln, Cooke said she was drawn to Bothwell years ago when she first became interested in medicine.
“I was a Medical Explorer at Bothwell in high school where I job shadowed and volunteered, and I also did my fourth-year rotations here during medical school,” she said. “I was drawn to Bothwell due to its service heart and community outreach.”
Marvin Smoot, Bothwell’s Clinic Operations vice president, said Cooke’s deep ties to the area and broad skill set will be a valuable addition to the clinic and the community.
“Dr. Cooke is bringing exceptional training and a heart for rural care to our patients,” he said. “We’re glad she chose to return to the region and invest in the health and wellness of the families who live here.”
Cooke said her approach to care is focused on collaboration and sustainability.
“My philosophy is to use shared decision making to work with patients to support positive and sustainable lifestyle changes,” she said. “I’m most looking forward to caring for families and people throughout their lifespan, from delivering babies to caring for elderly patients.”
She is seeing patients at Bothwell Family Medicine Associates located on the first floor of the Healing Arts Center. For appointments, call the clinic at 660.827.2883 or Centralized Scheduling at 660.829.8888.
