Bothwell Wound Healing Center earns national award; receives new hyperbaric chambers

Bothwell Wound Healing Center has earned the Center of Distinction award from Healogics®, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The center earned the award by achieving outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction rate above 92 percent and high wound healing rates.

Christy Goalder, Wound Center director, said the award reflects the collaboration and dedication of the team.

“We have an excellent group of nurses, physicians and a nurse practitioner who work together every day to provide quality wound care,” she said. “Our team approach shows in our quality measures and patient satisfaction scores. We also partner closely with patients’ primary care providers to support their healing process.”

The wound care team includes Dr. Jeff Wadley, Dr. Trevor Beckham and Nurse Practitioner Gail Meyer. They specialize in treating chronic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers and infections.

Advanced wound care treatments offered at the center include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. The center also provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which surrounds patients with 100 percent oxygen to promote wound healing.

Goalder said the center recently replaced its hyperbaric chambers with two state-of-the-art Sechrist chambers.

“The new chambers allow us to increase the number of patients we can provide oxygen therapy for to six people a day,” she said. “Each chamber is designed for maximum patient comfort. The interiors are spacious and connect to an integrated entertainment system. Surrounded by glass, patients can easily see out of the chamber while receiving treatment.”

Patients may call the Wound Healing Center directly to make an appointment for wound care. A referral is not required. For more information, call 660.827.2525.
