Patient Room Remodel

New patient room standards emphasize comfort, warmth and healing. Funds raised for this project will remodel rooms in the 24-bed Medical and Surgical Unit on 2 Southwest, which has not been updated since it was built in 1985.

Design and amenity enhancements include:

  • Artistic wall murals behind patient beds
  • Light fixtures over patient beds and headwalls
  • Paint, tile and flooring
  • Side cabinets, recliners and chairs
  • Window coverings
  • Televisions

Five rooms will be finished soon, and construction on two more will begin shortly. This project will create a more serene, family-friendly environment that supports patient recovery and is also tied to completion of a hospice room funded by the foundation, which is expected to be finished in early 2026.

For an up-close look, watch a virtual tour of a 'before' room and an 'after' remodeled room. Not all final amenities have been placed in the model room.

The cost for remodeling each room is $10,000.

K9 Officer

In 2022, the committees raised more than $55,000 to purchase K9 Officer Ringo for Bothwell’s Security team. A trained K9 greatly enhances safety by deterring or de-escalating potential threats. Ringo is highly trained in controlled aggression, explosives detection, tracking and article searches and obedience. Ringo and his handler, Mike VanDeusen, now play a vital role in keeping patients, visitors and employees safe across the hospital and clinics. The pair regularly complete training to remain prepared to respond to any security task or bomb threat.
