NICU

Nurses in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are specially trained to care for premature newborns of at least 32-weeks’ gestation and full-term newborns with breathing difficulties, jaundice or other medical conditions.

For babies needing additional care, we also have direct access to the neonatology team at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. This allows our doctors the ability to connect through video communication to Children’s Mercy neonatologists. These doctors specialize in taking care of high-risk babies. They work with babies who have the most complex conditions at the only Level 4 NICU in our region, the highest NICU designation by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The team at Children’s Mercy will be able to see your baby and support our team, providing the best possible care for your newborn.
