The Open Door Service Center offers several community resources.

  • Emergency overnight lodging for emergency cases such as house fires and domestic violence. For residents of Pettis County only.
  • Utility payment assistance when funds are available, for gas, electric, water utilities and utility down payments.
  • The Food Pantry in Sedalia, Missouri, provides various food packages tailored to family needs, including options for seniors, veterans and emergency assistance. Clients can access the pantry once a month by establishing an account with the necessary identification and proof of address.
  • The Open Door Kitchen offers free, hot meals daily to anyone in need, fostering a welcoming environment for individuals and families. Meals are served from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday through Saturday, and 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Sunday.
  • The Sedalia Community Cafe is a nonprofit organization partnered with Open Door Kitchen and United Way. The Cafe offers an evening meal every Monday through Friday from 5-5:30 pm, with the support of Pettis County volunteers. All community members are welcome to stop by for a meal.
  • The Open Door Thrift Shop sells donated clothing, shoes, accessories and household items, with all proceeds supporting the organization’s service center, pantry and kitchen.
  • The Open Door Service Center provides job-specific clothing and shoes necessary for employment. Case-by-case basis given available funds.
